Last week, our website marburg.com was temporarily unavailable or only partially functional. The cause was technical complications during the migration of our website to a new server. In this post, we would like to explain what happened – and most importantly, what we have improved behind the scenes.
The stability and performance of our website are our top priorities. To provide you with an even better user experience, we have been working on a comprehensive optimization of the user interface in the background. This included moving our entire website to a new hosting environment – a step intended to ensure more capacity, security, and speed.
However, there were unexpected difficulties, as the amount of data that needed to be transferred during the migration was much larger than expected. As a result, there were delays and intermittent outages.
What Improvements Were Made?
Despite the challenges, we were able to make numerous optimizations from which you, as a user, will benefit in the long term:
- Faster loading times through a modern server structure
- Improved display on mobile devices
- More intuitive navigation for easier content discovery
- Optimized search functionality to help you reach your destination more quickly
These innovations are part of our ongoing efforts to make marburg.com an even more user-friendly platform and information source for everything related to our world of wallpapers.
Thank You for Your Patience
We understand that technical issues can be frustrating – especially when you’re looking for inspiration or need information. We would like to sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.
Although the migration came with some challenges, we have learned important lessons from the situation. To prevent such issues in the future, comprehensive technical and organizational measures were implemented immediately afterward. It was especially frustrating to watch the new server fail to perform as expected after many hours of hard work, and we had to temporarily revert to an older version of the website.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused – particularly to our dedicated team and all the visitors to the website.
“It was a tough phase, but we’ve learned from it and have done everything we can to ensure this doesn’t happen again,” says Máximo Uribarri, Head of Digital Business Development & AI.
We are pleased to now offer you an even better experience on marburg.com – and we will continue to work on improving our website for you.
