How does the marburg Heizvlies work?

The HEIZVLIES is a modern infrared panel heating system, made with marburg's usual quality. Inside, a conductive carbon-based coating converts electrical energy into heat.

Unlike classic radiators, this heat isn't given off mainly to the air — it's transmitted through the surface into the room as pleasant infrared radiation. The result: an invisibly integrated heating solution that directly warms surfaces, rooms, and people.

More living space. Less heating hardware.

Radiators often dictate where the sofa, wardrobe, or dining table can go. HEIZVLIES uses wall and ceiling surfaces in the room instead. That keeps the technology in the background and your furnishings front and center.

Warmth that feels like sunshine.

Infrared radiation transfers heat directly to people and surfaces. This creates a direct, even sense of warmth — with less air movement than with purely convective heat.

Cozy warm interior in wintry weather
01 · Renovate

Less disruption to your home

The heating surface needs no water-carrying pipework. That can significantly reduce chiseling work, mess, and long construction phases — especially when you're wallpapering or painting anyway.

02 · Design

The wall stays your wall

Once installed, the technology disappears under suitable wallpaper or paint. You can still plan the room's design deliberately later on.

03 · Less moisture

Pleasant indoor climate

Heizvlies keeps walls and ceilings comfortably warm. That way, moisture doesn't condense on cold walls, reducing the risk of mold.

Safe low voltage
Conductive carbon layerThe coated fleece backing converts electricity into heat via resistance heating.

Simply explained

Not just warm air. Warmth you can actually feel.

Classic radiators mainly heat the room air. As a result, warm air rises and can stir up dust in the room. HEIZVLIES releases its heat over a large area via wall and ceiling — for a particularly pleasant feel in the room with less air movement.

  • Less air movement: This can be pleasant for people sensitive to stirred-up dust.
  • Controllable room by room: Thermostats direct heat exactly where and when it's actually needed.

Three steps to a finished heating system.

HEIZVLIES is applied like a classic decorating product. The coordinated technology means a separate electrician installation isn't needed. For you, that means one point of contact, a clearly planned heating surface, and a wall design entirely to your taste.

Wallpaper application

The certified painter checks the surface and applies the pre-cut panels to the wall or ceiling using the specified adhesive.

Design

The heating surface gets its approved top layer: the wallpaper or paint color of your choice. After that, the system is no longer visible.

Warmth you can control with ease

HEIZVLIES is technically fine-tuned perfectly for you. After that, you simply set your desired room temperature with ease.

A realistic look at costs

What matters is the whole solution.

The electricity price alone says little about a heating system's overall cost-effectiveness. Purchase, installation, maintenance, repairs, controls, and actual usage time all matter too.

Lower system complexityNo circulation pump, no burner, and no water-carrying distribution within the HEIZVLIES system.
Usage based on actual demandThe heating surface is activated via thermostats only when the room needs warmth.
Combinable with solar powerUse your own solar electricity for pleasant warmth.

Quick electricity cost estimate

Calculation assumes continuous operation at rated output. In real use, your thermostat switches the surface on and off depending on heat demand.

Calculated full-load value
0.10€ / hour
0.40 € per day of use
0.33 kW calculated total output. This result is a non-binding estimate and replaces neither a heat load calculation nor a consumption forecast.

Especially interesting when classic solutions get in the way.

No new radiators, no pipework: HEIZVLIES is mounted space-savingly on wall or ceiling and is ideal for retrofitting into existing apartments and houses.

Renovation

New warmth alongside painting work you already planned

The heating surface can be integrated directly into the redecoration of suitable wall and ceiling areas.

Loft conversion

Using space where radiators are impractical

Especially with sloped ceilings and small floor areas, an invisible solution can offer design advantages.

Individual rooms

Warmth exactly where it's needed

Ideal for rarely used rooms or areas that need extra warmth.

Efficient buildings

Covering a low heat load appropriately

In well-insulated buildings, an electric panel solution can be economically attractive – ITG study, 2019

Pictures and fixings

Any wall hangings should be coordinated with the specialist installer in advance. Live edge zones must not be damaged; suitable fixings and a documented surface plan ensure safety.

Furniture in front of the heating surface

Large wardrobes or bulky sofas shouldn't permanently cover the active surface. Free radiation prevents heat build-up and improves heat distribution.

Optional with CELSIUS RX

The reflective system backing can support heat output into the room. It shortens heat-up time to bring your room to a comfortable temperature as quickly as possible.

Technology & research

Clear facts instead of blanket promises.

HEIZVLIES is a panel heating system — a strong solution for many buildings.

DimensionsA standard panel measures about 2.70 × 0.53 m and can be adjusted in length within the system specifications. Other sizes are available in lengths of 4.40 m × 0.53 m and 6.60 m × 0.53 m.
OutputAt 2.70 m length, peak output is about 160–180 watts per panel.
ControlRegulation is room-based via thermostat and, depending on the version, can be integrated into radio or smart-home systems.
MaintenanceThe fleece itself has no moving wear parts.

Frequently asked questions

What customers want to know before deciding.

It results from the installed output, actual on-time, electricity price, room temperature, and the building's condition.
That's possible when the building envelope, available heating surface, and heat load are a good match. In other projects, the system makes more sense as a supplementary or comfort heating. The decision is made per building, not as a blanket rule.
Yes, the system requires a 230-volt outlet.
In principle, redecorating is still possible. However, the material, adhesive, paint system, and removal of old coverings must be compatible with the approved system build-up. Have any changes assessed by a specialist company.
Warm surfaces can reduce condensation and thereby a key precondition for mold growth. However, moisture causes such as leaks, thermal bridges, or inadequate ventilation still need to be professionally assessed. The system does not replace a root-cause analysis.
The GEG lists direct electric heating as a compliance option, but §71d sets special building thermal-insulation requirements depending on the building and names exceptions. Permissibility therefore has to be checked for the specific building and intended use. Note: the GEG is German law and applies only in Germany.
Yes. If you use Heizvlies as an additional comfort heating (e.g. to warm the bathroom floor) supporting your existing heating system, use is permitted without restrictions.

If Heizvlies is meant to be the sole primary heating system, statutory minimum requirements for the building's insulation standard apply (under German regulations). A qualified energy consultant can check the details for your specific project.
